Even those of us who are trying to lose weight still need to eat. You know that starvation diets don’t work and you know with that type of diet it’s easy to gain all the weight back and then some. If you starve yourself you slow down your metabolism making it much more difficult to lose weight. So, you know that you need to eat in order to keep your metabolism going and obviously some foods are better to eat than others but are their foods that can actually accelerate weight loss? Are their foods that burn fat?
When it comes to eating right just about everyone has at least some idea of what they should or should not be eating. You know that it’s a good idea to stay away from the deserts and snacks and processed foods and that eating things low in fat and carbohydrates and higher in protein and fiber are good for you.
To answer the question are there foods that burn fat?, the answer is, sort of. Anything you eat contains calories and to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you eat but there are foods that are beneficial when it comes to weight loss and which make it easier for you to burn fat.
Lean meats are good because they contain a lot of protein which is needed to build muscle and if you’re working out and building muscle you will be increasing your metabolism. Building lean muscle mass will increase your metabolism and help you to burn calories all day long, 24 hours a day.
Eggs are also an excellent source of protein and also contain vitamin B12 which is a key component in helping your body break down fat.
Many fruits are beneficial when it comes to fat burning as well. Bananas contain potassium that boosts your metabolism. Apples and berries are a good source of pectin which will help limit the amount of fat that your cells can absorb. Citrus fruits are an excellent source of vitamin C which can also help you to lose fat.
In addition to lean meats, fruits and veggies, spices can also help burn fat. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which can help to regulate blood sugar levels. If you maintain a good consistent blood sugar level it will also help you to control hunger. Garlic is another good blood sugar regulator that can help you to metabolize food faster. Regulating your blood sugar helps keep your insulin levels low. When insulin levels are high that can cause you to feel hungry and also cause your body to hold on to fat rather than burning it for energy.
We all know that the best way to lose fat is to eat right and exercise and most of us know almost instinctually what “eating right” means but some foods are more beneficial for fat burning and weight loss than others and incorporating these foods into your diet will make your weight loss easier and more effective.
